No End.... I would like your assistance pretty please.

I am the website administrator for our local humane society. I have built a new site, using the info from the old one, and I am now currently working on 'punching' it up to grab heartstrings.

My vision for the home page is the poem that I just put on there and where the picture is, to have a video playing of pets from our shelter. I have the pictures to create the video slide show, but could use your expertice in making a video that captures people, mind, heart and soul.

Would you like to lend a hand????

Your slideshow at the top is really nice. Yes, something like that would be good, but I want the pics to fade in and out with intensity...like stars coming together or exploding apart to the next one. Does that make sense?

Oh...and I hope you don't mind...but I kinda 'lifted' your spay/neuter pic off your profile.

Yep, I've been to feathered friends a few times, I never post on boards til I get a feeling of what's going on. I think it's rude to just pop in and start talking until you get to know the members..

You're welcome to anything I have on my profile or board. I wish everybody was interested in that sort of stuff, sure would be a nicer world for us, and for the animals.

I can make the slideshow anyway you want but some of the transitions are really big files and will take a long time to load..the one you're talking about (Fading in and out) is a big one. Just one picture will be like loading 10 pictures. People with slow connections would never be able to load it. I had the one on my board that way and had to change it for that reason...

The smallest file and quickest loading is like the one on my board.

Think about what you want, and let me know and I'll see if I can do it or not. Ok?

I also think you are right about the slideshow.... Sadly the big files do load slowly....
What programs are you, both Deb and Noend, using for making the sites? And the slideshow?
I use Frontpage and simply PSP and Animation Shop for slideshows and such.

Ed, yes, all forums are pretty darn slow as of late. Not sure if it is a trend or what. I know that FF is doing about the same as yours right now. This place is the busiest of the forums I frequent. I have tried different ways to get FF more active, but it doesn't seem to work at all. I am actually thinking of closing it down. It's just that there is SO much information built into that site. Our reference area is incredible. I just don't know what to do.

Caysa, I needed the most user friendly software program available to build and manage the site for the Humane Society. I actually researched for about 5 months, trying out different programs. There are about 5 main users to our website that need to make changes now and then...I didn't want them to 'blow' up the site, so it had to be easy to manipulate. The one I picked in the end was freewebs. Then, just a small annual donation on my part, gives it it's own dot com address. Working on linking it to a dot org also for more grant opportunities.

Ed, about the slide show...you and Caysa are probably right...simple is best. So, if not a slide show, any ideas on making that very first impression of our site pop, grab you, entice you to search out the rest of the pages????

You can still have the slideshow! But not with stars and such. Every pic will then be like 10 pics or something.

I use PSP9 and Animation shop..I'm not into it real deep. I just like to tinker around with the simple stuff.

Deb., Caysa's right, you can still have your slideshow, with many pictures. You saw mine on the board, it's a little over 1.5 MB. There's not much animation. The more animation you have, the bigger the file..people on dial up wouldn't be able to view it at all.

Think about it and whatever you want we'll try. It's never going to be right the first time, just have to keep trying til you get something that works.

Here's where I do most of my business. It's not in my county, but I don't like the one in my county so I support this one..It's where I got my last pet..It might give you some ideas.

Wow..you people are pretty amazing...I just read the poem "I rescured a human..." I am still wiping tears away...it reminds me of Terry. With the exception of Shubee (our Sheltie) Terry is the most well behaved, loving dog I have ever had, and he was abandoned as a puppy. Most of his siblings didn't make it. It's kind of a funny story..he really did adobt us.....
