waiting on babies
The baby chicks should come today!!! We ordered them from McMurray. I have been up since 4:30am waiting for the post office to call. They are supposed to come to our local post office, but last time an earlier post office called before they even reached ours. We both have to work this morning, so they better call soon!! Luckily it is going to reach the 50's today, lately we have been in the teens or colder. I will put up pic when they get here!

Re: waiting on babies
Yes they finally arrived, but they didn't get to our post office until almost 8am Monday. They were born on friday, and it was freezing over the weekend,so when they got here only a few were still alive. Today we still have 3 left. I will take pic of them and let you know how they are doing after work. Brandy

Re: waiting on babies
Don't sound like a good idea to order baby chicks in the winter time.
Doesn't the place that ships them know that they probably won't survive?

Re: waiting on babies
we usally do not have any problem, what most likely happened was that they got left in a drafty area
Re: waiting on babies
We lost the last 3 today. I actually didn't intend to order the chicks this early, but I didn't realize I did not pick a shipping date. It automatically filled in with the earliest possible date that all the birds would be available. My last order I had come in May, and I had no problems.

Re: waiting on babies
You would think that the shippers would know better. Do you still have to pay for them?
Re: waiting on babies
Yeah very sad. But I guess there's not much that can be done about it. Probably no way to ship them safely. And no governments worry much about how chickens are treated anyway. Chickens are not on any kind of protection lists that I know of.
Re: waiting on babies
