Ameraucana Pullets or Roos?
Yep, here I am revisiting the sexing problem once more. However, I have a new clue. At least I think it may be a clue of some significance. Looking at these birds now at four months of age, I am seeing some with pretty heavy feather beards. Is this typical of ameraucana roos? All of them have bushy feathers around the face, but probably less than half have the "bearded look". These same bearded birds put their heads down and run at me when I go in the pen, sometimes attacking my feet. I think that behavior itself is pretty conclusive evidence these are males.
Re: Ameraucana Pullets or Roos?
Until they crow or grow spurs, males will have a larger comb and extra droopy and longer feathers along side the butt (not the tail feathers though).
Hope this helps. Is there a way to post a couple pictures for us? Be happy to pick out roos from hens via a pic for you. Side shots are best.

Hey, Hey, Hey, everyone! Got my first egg Saturday, Aug 21. So, I have at least one pullet in the flock and I can identify her. She's doing the submissive squat thing all the time, but if there are any boys in the group they must be too young to care yet. And, I got the second egg today. Of course I was expecting blue/green, but got light tan instead, but, hey, they are eggs. We are in production!
