Re: I am off to Riga for a few days
Ok ok
Here is a pic of the riverside and the boat that we took to get to Jurmala, that is a seaside town, a real "summer town".

Here is a map that shows the boat trip (pink) and the train trip back (brown). The boat trip took 2½ hours and costed 10 euros each and the train took 31 minutes
and costed 1,15 euros for two persons!

Here is pics I took from the boat. All the river banks are clean plain sand!

From the little port we walked down the main street:

down to the beach, first seen through the trees:

then the actual beach wiew:

On the way back to the center we saw many cool houses, heres it 2 of them:

These trains runs every 30 minutes between Jurmala and Riga:

Happy now Treena ?

Such a cute lovely town. I wish every corner of the world was like that.

Many towns in northern Europe are like that because we have really old buildings and as we have space there are towns that are not built upwards. That makes them cosy

Here are pics from 2 small towns in southern Finland. The first is Porvoo, east to Helsinki and the second one is Naantali NW of Helsinki:

Love that map as it shows clearly where you went by train and the boat... neat pics of landscapes - shops - buildings and even the train looked colourful too!
