New Incubator in Action--UPDATE!!!
So I just got my first incubator. I am using a Little Giant Still-air. I put 6 bantam mottled cochin hatching eggs in it last night, so I guess we will see how this works out for me. I am excited, but I dont know about not having a turner. But I am going to hope I can find one soon, without having to order one online.

Oh wonderful!
you must keep us posted. I got a little giant for Christmas! I also got the turner, but I haven't used mine yet. Do you have something to candle the eggs with? If not I suggest a small mag light. They work really well and you can adjust the flood of the light. you can get one at wal-mart.
I have always incubated without a turner, so this will be a new experience for me. They say once you have a turner you never go back. do you have Tractor Supply Stores in you area? They sell the 1600 little giant turners cheaper than what you can find on ebay.

Re: New Incubator in Action--UPDATE!!!
I used one a little last year with very limited success. I am going to make a candler out of a cracker box. Thats one of the easiest ways to do so. I wish I could run across a metal box of the same dimentions. But I will keep you guys posted. The temp is holding steady at 99.5, right where it should be. I do not have a hydrometer yet, so I dont know what the humidity is. I intend on getting one on the next trip to walmart. I have all the water trays full. Haven't opened the bator to roll the eggs yet, I am going to wait until a full 24 hours before i open it at all. Thats what the manual suggests, so that is what I am going to do. We have TSC, but the nearest one is over an hour away. Going to continue to look around here for one.

Go to mcmurrayhatchery.com and just order one then. Their prices aren't too bad.

They are higher than hair on a cat's back! Are you crazy!
And I think they only sale the one for the GQF models.

Re: New Incubator in Action--UPDATE!!!
try getting one as soon as you can that is one of the major reasons people have bad hatches the humidity is usally to high and the chicks drown

Anna, do we have that smoking chicken with the smarty pants grin icon here yet???? I have a feeling that our Oklahoma Yankee would begin to miss it soon.
