I also have peepage

Post by Dustin Biery on 4/13/2008, 6:00 pm

Eggs that have obviously been in the bator for 20 days started peeping and hatching today! I was really worried after the powere outage last week that they would not hatch at all. The power went out at a very very bad time. Hope the rest of them continue to hatch!

(Other chicks) After thinking one of my hens had been got by a predator....I get a lovely surprise! This is the first broody that I have had successfully hatch any off. I never was able to locate a nest, so I dont know how many she had to sit on, but I do know that she hatched 8 little ones! I couldn't be more excited! I thought she was laying, but I could never find any of her eggs (she is the only one who would lay white eggs). But you will find three pics below. I was kinda skeered to get to close to her, especially with this being her first hatch! Enjoy, Lord knows I will be!!!!

oooo looovely!!! i remember how i felt when i saw my black hen came trooping out from her hiding place with 10 chicks! i was so delighted and laughed to think i had missed her only to find she had hatched...

she had hidden herself when we arrived here in 2004 - clever aren't they to hide their own eggs then hatch them out undetected!!!

congratulations Dustin Smile (even tho the hen did all the work - hehehe)

I think we all will remember the first time we saw our first hen come out of hiding with babies. Yes, it is an incredible show! Enjoy watching and learning from the mum!
