Angel Food Cake
1 Cup sifted flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 cup sugar 8 egg whites 1 teaspoon vanilla 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
Sift flour and half the sugar together, several times. Beat egg whites with salt until frothy. Add cream of tartar and beat to form peak. Fold in the other half of the sugar to form meringue. Fold in flour and sugar mixture, gradually and gently. Then blend in vanilla. Bake for one hour @ 350. Invert and remove from pan when almost cooled.

I make homemade ones all the time. SO much better than the boxed versions or from a bakery.
