yes we do right now we have four milking two we dried off earlier, we feed the milk to our beef calf, we plan on milking 12 does next spring

Plan on milking all 12 by hand? Ouch! We're milking 4 and it's too much for me. We got a milk pump and cans from a friend and we're planning on buying new lines for it as it's set up for a cow and use that next spring as well have about the same amount of milking does as you. If I thought I was going to have to milk 12 does by hand twice a day I'd have a fit. LOL

We have a milking machine, but at $100 per goat for the tubes and inflations and all that, we're slow in getting it up and running again.

Do you find that you have a market for all the milk? I'm really really hesitant to get into the dairy goats any further for lack of a market for the milk. About half our milk goes to feed the dogs and the chickens. Not very cost effective when we're spending over $200 every two weeks in feed.

My ex brother in law milks about 200 goats a day. He sells the milk to the local milk bulk pick up places. You may want to contact one in your area to see if they would have a need for smaller, organic?, production.

That would be nice, but Kansas laws are so strict on selling milk to anyone other than someone that comes to your farm individually. We just plain don't have the money to set up the kind of system they want. I know a lot of dairy people that have tried and given up because the laws are so stringent.

Well, that just sucks. Sorry to hear that. I am not sure of what sort of money my ex bil invested in order to make his little production farm happen, but I know he had to put in the bulk tank and milking system, etc. But he is also very handy and was picking up bits and pieces here and there for a long time for free or nearly free and getting them in working order.

we do not sell our milk much, we had a lady that was buying it for her eldery dog cause that was all he could keep down for awhile. Mainly it goes to the kids and any calf we are raiseing, if we have extra milk after the calf is off milk we get another calf and feed it to that, then sell the calf when the goats are dried off, this year we have not had to get another calf as we are still feeding the one we have the milk

i am sure there must be something - one of my friends's son couldn't tolerate cow's milk he had to have goats milk - that was 36 years ago = surely there must be some babies like that? advertise on the quiet? for those babies sakes?

We have strict laws regarding raw milk where I live. About the only way you can sell it is to form a co op. All your customers has to buy a share in the animals that you're selling the milk from. It would be really risky to sell it any other way. If someone got sick or died from it you'd be in a lot of trouble.
You have to be really careful in this country, everybody is just looking for a way to sue somebody.

nope Tree can not do that to become a grade A dairy is a lot of work and we do not have the space or money to do so.
