No Goats allowed Empty No Goats allowed

My husband of almost 29 yrs doesn't like goats. sorry
He has said many times that he wouldn't have a goat on the place.
With prices going through the roof at the Grocery store, I decided I wanted a milk goat. My daughter has goats, so I bought an older Oberhasli (sp) doe from her. Her kid had just been weaned, so the doe had milk, but not a whole lot. We were using every drop she gave and needed more. So my daughter was looking at a local barter/sale site and found a Lamancha doe for sale. We drove over and got her. My daughter traded the little buck from my first doe for the little buck from the Lamancha doe. He will be her second breeding buck.
Daughter also has this little Saanen doe that had her first kid ready to wean. Daughter wanted to milk this little doe, but the doe was as wild as a March Hare when you tried to milk her. Daughter and I built a nice milking stand and brought her little doe over to my house.( Daughter lives one block over from me)
We have more milk than we know what to do with now. We have been making cheese, yogurt, pudding and lot's of gravy for the old grouch that doesn't want a goat on the place. lol!
The goat pen was a jungle that had grown up on the West side of our house. It is right outside the bedroom window. My husband is tickled to death that the goats have eaten the jungle down. He doesn't complain about the goats at all.
All three of the goats are gentle and easy to milk now. The Lamancha would lay down when we tried to milk her, but a sling put quits to that. The little Saanen figured out we weren't gonna hurt her and now hikes her leg like a dog so we have better access to her. It will soon be time to breed them again. I will miss the milk for those couple of months. Smile

You really need to get a couple of chickens. They make such nice eggs for a little table scraps and all the bugs they can catch. Smile

I won't drink that stuff they sell in the store that they try to pass off as milk. blech.
Give me goats milk anyday Smile It doesn't cause acid reflux in me either and i drink it raw unpasturized and have recieved more health benefits of it too. My bones are stronger now that i can absorb the calcium. You can't absorb calcium from store bought milk that is pasturized.

It's not just that it comes from a store that makes it different. It is the fact that it is cow's milk. Cow's milk is Acid based and Goats milk is Alkaline based. Total different Ph makes a whole lot of difference in how your digestion works with the milk. Smile
