Things are a'changin' Empty Things are a'changin'

I have been searching for a new job, as this one (even though I LOVE it will all my heart and soul AND the people I work for) can not pay the bills. We had a 12% cost of living increase this year and no raise to help support that added burden. The market has been insanely slow and difficult to say the least. I do not have any health benefits there and I had to fight for 4 years just to get sick days.

Well, yesterday I was interviewed by a panel of 5 from the City. It was a bit intimidating at first thought....but I heard them reviewing my resume while I waited out in the hall and then I heard roaring laughter. Hmmm, ok...that is NOT a good sign me thinks to meself. They finally call me in and I sit down at the table and there are still giggles. So I had to do it. I had to ask. I meekly say, so, I heard all this laughter as you were reviewing my resume. Is this not a good sign??? They all started laughing again and said no, that they were teasing one of the gentlemen in the room about a name of a company ON my resume. Ok, I can handle that. Anyways, we sat there for 30 minutes, them hitting me with questions and I answering them as best I can...bouncing from person to person...it was a bit overwhelming at times. My parting comment to the panel, as I left the room, was, "This was the funnest interview I have ever had the pleasure of sitting through. Thank You!" It was fun...we laughed most of the time actually. So, I left there feeling like it was 'too much fun' and that I wasn't taken seriously...etc. Oh well, for a first interview out on the job hunt, it was refreshing I thought to myself.

This morning I get a call from the Human Resource Director. (He's REALLY cute too by the way...lol) He offered me the job!!!!!!!!! WHAT???? I was flabbergasted. Then he tells me that the starting salary for me was increased! So, not only did I get the job I figured I stood no chance in getting...but I got a raise, even before I started!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooooooooooo confused and sooooooooooo very happy. I will be making MUCH more than I am now and I will also have all the government benefits to go along with it. Pretty darn cool if you ask me. I start on April 14th.

way to go Deb. A new job is very refreshing. I think it will work out wonderfully for you. Will you have to move or anything? keep us posted. Will you be in the same job position you are in now? or will this be totally different.

I will actually be going down a notch in title but up quite a bit in benefits. Nope, don't have to move at all...I will be working across the street from my current office!!! to funny I will be working strictly in the financial department there, so I will be concentrating on number crunching for the most part. Not my most favorite pick...but, it is a foot in the door so that I can have first dibs at what may come along.
