Emma the demented yellow lab. (only cause she is not 'whole' unless there is a tennis ball in her mouth or in mid air)
Chester the pest of a howlin beagle.
Sarah the prissy fickle brittle old lady of a cat. (22)

mmm my chooks are my pets . . . mmm names?
oldest (15?) is Goldie, Next (12?) is Annie, next (11?) is Kelly, followed by (10?) twiggy and blanche, polly, timi (9?), topsy (9?), daisy + fiona (4) cassie, frilly, opal, opita, diana, shyone, dee, bluey,(3)

oh i gotta go out there and count ones without names and write it down on my wee pad soon . . . plus am keeping one blue silky roo and two hens from last springs hatching.

an hour or so ago - i gave away three of mine, goofy and two silkie mutts plus two of my gf's two hens plymouth rock and amerauna

still trying to give away more little hens. another person coming tomorrow... will place ones to be given away in a little run on the grass . . .

since the blinky council's been around again = neighbour telling him by phone - wondering why i had more chickens in another well enclosed pen - sigh! he 'kindly' granted me a temporary permit to keep and look after extra chooks for my girlfriend who had a shoulder operation last tuesday . . . since i went off at him non-stop re the ridiculous idea of having expensive licence or registration since i cant breed blue silkies.

Frankly i've gone off at him with extreme bad manners . . . surely since he can see how tidy everything is inside and outside - I had already advertised to give away chooks on the internet and the "trade exchange" paper. Tom having told him everything he needs to know before i came into the lounge to see him.

we all name our pets because we love them - dont we? flower .

mmm corrections. . . Very Happy

oldest (15?) is Goldie, Next (12?) is Annie, next (11?) is Kelly, followed by (10?) twiggy and blanche, polly, timi (9?), topsy (9?), feefi and fifee (5) daisy + fiona (4) cassie, frilly, opal, opita, diana, shyone, dee, bluey,(3) Hattie (2) one black silkie, two black pekins (last 3 age unknown)

that's 24 hens but i need to give away three more . . . tomorrow to allow for two young hens and one blue silkie roo...

am thinking of asking neighbour over the road if she wouldn't mind me having a few over her place? she did ask me before . . . to keep rooster there with few hens. Razz

sigh - sad Sad but gotta do this asap. plus give away three more of Carol's hens (gf) and my two young roos (decided to give away splash roo cos its not full silkie (what do you think?)

is there a way of finding out their ages? Embarassed

My list is long and always changing.

German shepard/chow mix, Bismark. At 13 years old, she's my geriatric farm dog.

Australian shepard/dalmation, Jelly. At 4 years old, she's our farm idiot. LOL

Buck pygmy goat, Billy. He came with that name.

Wether pygmy goat, Goatie. My DS5 named him.

2 pygmy does, Tinker and Blackie. Tink is the momma to Goatie and Blackie.

13 ducks. Only 3 have names, 2 pekins, Daisy and Donald and the famous Jordan duck is a blue swede/pekin mix.

Currently 6 horses.
mini stud, Spirit.
shetland mare, Rain
mini/shetland, Stormy (soon to be gelded)
welsh/walker mix gelding, Rocky. He retired from barrel racing at 15 and came to live with me.
quarter/arab mix gelding, Zipper. Buddy to Rocky.
grade gelding, Chance. He was my first horse. I found him the the Humane Society of MO.

13 ducks, only 3 have names. The 2 pekins are named Daisy and Donald (I know, real original) and the famous Jordan duck. He's a pekin/blue swede mix.

I've downsized chickens to about 30 birds. I only have 1 rooster named out there. My older lt brahma is Mister, due to his gigantic size.

At last count 15 farm cats. My DD has named a few of them, but I just call them cat.

2 hamsters, Fluffy and Whiskers.

1 dwarf bunny, Thumper

2 parakeets, Angel and Thomas

1 75 gallon freshwater tank

1 56 gallon saltwater tank

I think that's all. LOL

Depends on the attitude in the house and the temp outside. LOL

On nice days with crabby kids it can take much longer to tend to everyone. If you have kiddos I'm sure you can relate. LOL

Cold days I have it down to a quick science.

Truthfully tho it's not all that bad. The goats, ducks and chickens are in portable houses, so hubby moves them all to one area. The horses get round bales so for them we move in hay every 5th day. So I just have to go down and do a quick health check on them and make sure water isn't frozen over. They have an 3 sided shelter so cleaning is a snap, just back in the tractor and blade it out. Then bucket it all to compost.

The biggest part that makes it easy is I have a compact John Deere gator. When I get home from the feed store I just load the bags right into the bed of it. Then I can just zip zip all over the place.

My, you have it made! On my farm I did not have it so easy...hauling things in winter on sleds. Bucking hay daily. Busting open waterers, etc.
